Akanksha seeks passionate education entrepreneurs committed to educational reform to launch Akanksha branches across the country. Since 1991, Akanskha has been serving low-income children and communities of Mumbai and Pune through non-formal education centers and programs.
Akanksha believes that this model can be replicated across India under the leadership of passionate and skilled people. Recognizing the depth and breadth of educational inequity in India, Akanksha seeks to address reform on a larger scale with the vision that each entrepreneur will reach over 1,000 children over the course of three years.
The Model
Each new location will become a branch of The Akanksha Foundation. Entrepreneurs will be provided with seed funding, access to all curriculum and resources, extensive training and development, use of the Akanksha brand and access to its network of supporters and funders. All new branches will be expected to abide by the Akanksha mission, goals and values as well as certain operating principles of its model, with the mission of building self-sustaining organizations over the course of three years. Entrepreneurs will be given the freedom to adapt and innovate the current model and resources to suit the needs of the children and communities they are serving as well as achieve the highest possible impact.
The program will begin in 2008, starting with intensive training at Akanksha Mumbai/Pune along with preparation for launch. Halfway through the year, they will transition completely to their site to launch operations with continued on-site and distance support from Akanksha staff for the following three years. After these three years, it will become a mature branch of the network, with continued support from Akanksha Headquarters and access to resources.
This model will allow for new entrepreneurs to be recruited each year, covering a wide geographical spread and impacting thousands of children’s lives.
