The Akanksha Shop is one small example of what is possible if the poorest children in our country are given access to opportunities – the opportunity to study, to build skills, to have choices and to be able to dream of a different world for themselves.
The Akanksha Shop launched on Children’s Day in 2010. After years of cultivating a love for art and realizing its students’ potential, the program evolved into something more: The Akanksha Shop. The shop serves as a model outlet that can eventually translate student talent and hard work into a steady, practical source of income and independence for Akanksha students, alumni, and their communities.
At the Akanksha Shop, everyone has access to Akanksha products and services suchs as workshops for birthdays, summer art camps, murals, customized furniture, and products for corporates.
The Akanksha Shop fulfills a need in the city for high quality, unique products, provides career opportunities for alumni, and acts as a source of livelihood for communities. Akanksha hopes the shop will one day be able to generate enough revenue to be able to fund Akanksha centers and the School Project.
Come experience art that is much more than art. This art provides insight into the minds of children and speaks to the hope that the world can be different. It’s more than art. It’s art that tells a story.
