  • Nizamuddin Rehman, 7

Nizamuddin Rehman, 7, goes to the Municipality School and is in class 3.

Nizamuddin lives in Aashiana Chawl with his parents, five sisters and four brothers. His mother is a housewife and his father sells teacups.

Ramola Didi says that Nizamuddin is one of her bright students. He is slightly older than the others as he is in class 3. He is the kind of student that pays attention and answers all the questions. He is definitely confident. Sometimes he feels he knows everything and needs to be told to be quiet. But overall he is a bright student with a strong educational foundation. He enjoys himself in class, and loves coming to Akanksha.

Nizamuddin likes coming to Akanksha and prefers it to his formal school as here he learns much more. He goes to an Urdu medium school, and doesn’t get to learn English there. He feels proud every time he helps out in household chores, like buying rice etc. His favorite day at Akanksha has been when Didi took them out to a music store. He saw a guitar, violin and a piano. The piano was a lot bigger than he had imagined.

    Shamshuddin, 6

Shamshuddin, 6, is in class 2. He has been with Akanksha for almost a year now.

Shamshuddin lives in Aashiana Chawl with his parents, three brothers and three sisters. His mother is a housewife and his father sells buckets.

Ramola Didi says that he is an average student. His foundation is still weak, but he puts in a lot of effort. He pays attention and tries to answer questions. He enjoys himself in class. He enjoys days when they sing songs at Akanksha. His favourite ones are “Twinkle Twinkle” and “My Only Sunshine.” When he grows up he wants to learn about the motor of a car, and work with different car parts.
