Adnan Sheikh, 7

Adnan Sheikh: is 7 years old, goes to Father Ingle School and is in KG. He has recently joined Akanksha at the Bandra Petit center.

Adnan lives in Bharat Nagar in Bandra. He lives with his parents and younger brother and sister. His mother is a housewife and his father is a scooter mechanic.

Madhu Didi says he has got tremendous potential. He understands very well and is a well-behaved student. He is not very confident, and needs to be motivated. He needs encouragement. Didi says she notices that he needs extra attention – almost as if he needs to be in the limelight. He enjoys coming to Akanksha and has a good time in class.

Adnan says that he likes studying. He likes Akanksha to his formal school because he gets to do drawing here. He used to hit his friends and fellow students earlier. But after joining Akanksha, he has stopped doing that. He takes pride in the fact that he has perfect attendance. Adnan wants to be a Doctor when he grows up because he thinks it will be fun to perform operations.

Nausheen Sheikh, 6

Nausheen Sheikh.is 6 years old goes to Petit School and is in the 1st standard. She attends the Bandra Petit center at level 1 and has recently joined Akanksha.

Nausheen used to live at Mumra, but now has recently moved to Bandra Compund. She lives with her grandparents, parents, her two aunts, her great granddad and an uncle. Her father works in the fish market.

Madhu Didi says educational foundation is strong. She is an intelligent young girl, and even if she misses a class, she picks up whatever she missed. She is very confident, however she is not very regular. She always finds reasons to be absent – complaining of headaches and stomach aches. But when she is at class, she has a lot of fun and participates in all activities.

She prefers Akanksha to her formal school because at Akanksha they play games. In school it is just studying and no fun. Sometimes she helps out in household chores and she feels proud of herself. She buys soap for the house and small spice packets as and when required. She enjoys herself most when she is playing with her dolls. Everyday she looks forward to doing it and that is her best part of the day.
