Padmini Maniangpachare, 8

Padmini Maniangpachare, 8, goes to Modesty School and is in class 2. She has been with Akanksha for 2 years.

Padmini comes from the P D’Mello community and her family comprises of grandmother, father, mother and 2 brothers. She is the middle child. Her father works with the railways while her mother sells vegetables.

Masuma Didi says she is a bright child who has high confidence. Sometimes overpowers the others, wanting to lead all the time even if it’s the class line! She enjoys herself thoroughly in class.

Padmini likes coming to Akanksha because the Didi’s are nice and sometimes in the other school they hit on the kid’s back. She has three best friends.

Her best day at Akanksha was when Dipshika Didi took them to the zoo. ‘I saw lots of animals there I saw lion, monkey, dinosaur and elephant!”

Firdos Fam Ali, 8

Firdos Fam Ali, 8, goes to the Bangalipura Urdu School and is in the third standard. She has been in Akanksha for a year.

Firdos’ family lives on P D’Mello Road with her parents, grandfather, an elder brother and a younger brother and sister.

Masuma Didi feels Firdos tends to be very moody but bright, participates in class and is ever ready to lead a group. She loves to have a good time.

Firdos says, “I went to the zoo and saw lion, monkey, alligator, elephant and horse. I like the monkey because he was looking like my brother.”
