Every small lamp that glows at night.
Every little flame that gives us light
Takes away darkness, makes the world bright

Every small book and each single line,
Brightens the mind like sunshine….

Swati and Neha

Swati and Neha live in a single room adjacent to the railway line. Their father is a butcher with no fixed income and their mother is a housewife. The parents are proud that their children are learning English. They are fully involved in their children’s development and interested in their progress. They are regular at the parent meetings and also implement whatever is told to them in the meetings.
One of the things the girls enjoyed the most was tying the ‘rakhis’ that they had made individually in the center on their younger brother. Both children participated in the musical Sunshine Stars last year. They make a sincere effort to speak English. We feel both of them are having a good time, learning and developing strong values.

Diksha Saundale

Diksha is the fourth child among six siblings. Her father is a mason, and her mother is a housewife. Diksha’s parents are very welcoming and happy when didis or bhaiyas go to their house. Though financially less privileged they have dreams of making their children educated and self-dependent.
Diksha used to be violent and she would throw tantrums, sometimes even slap her parents. But her mother proudly says that after joining Akanksha she has never behaved baldy. In fact she has become responsible and caring towards her younger siblings. Her mother was very proud to see her daughter perform on stage in the musical event.
