Our center song:

People Over The World

People over the world reach your hand touch one another
People over the world just understand and love each other
We have one life to live so much to give and so much to share
There is love to be found just look around there's happiness there

People over the world we are the same just different colours
People over the world love without change like susters and brothers
Face each day with a smile and in while sunshine appears
You'll feel warm deep inside no need to hide from danger and fear

People over the world reach your hand touch one another
People over the world just understand and love each other
People over the world…

Laxmi Digambar Naik

Laxmi Digambar Naik, 12, goes to Manekji Gazder School and is in class 7. She has been in Akanksha for 4 years. She is also part of Akanksha's art and drama class.

Laxmi comes from the Khar danda community. She lives with her parents, grandmother, and two brothers. Both her brothers go to Akanksha as well. Her mother is a housewife and her father is a wireman.

Didi says Laxmi has a very strong education foundation. She understands and picks up things very quickly. She is an extremely bright, confident child. She understands her values and respects everybody around her. She enjoys herself in class and this is evident because she is very punctual and regular. She was upset because there was a change in the timing in her school and that would affect her attendance. She has also been selected for the beyond school program, and is attending the Learning to Lead summer batch.

Laxmi always remembers the day when Didi took the class Essel World. She enjoyed that day and a favourite part was the caterpillar ride. At first she was excited about it, then when the ride started, she got scared, but by the time it was over, she wanted to be on it again. Her proudest moment was that when she had 100% attendance at her center during the month of July. Prachi didi called her in front of the entire class and everyone started clapping for her. She sings and daces well and she had played the lead role in the play, "The Wizard of Oz"

Malika Bano Akhtarahmed Khan

Malika Bano Akhtarahmed Khan,
10, goes to Ram Mandir School and is in class four. She is at level 3 and has been in Akanksha since the last 4 years.

Malika comes from the Khar Danda community. She lives with her parents, her 4 sisters and 2 brothers. One of her sisters goes to Akanksha.

Mallika does not go to formal school but still is at par with everybody in her class. She is an average student, weak in Maths. However she is a very confident child and a very good girl who loves to come to Akanksha. Prachi didi says she lives in very poor conditions but she is always very cheerful. She answers in class and is is always ready to learn.

Mallika prefers Akanksha to her formal school because the Didi at Akanksha is very nice. Her best day at Akanksha was Sports Day, where she did a lot of running around with her friends. Malika is a very hard working girl. She gets up early in the morning and fills water everyday at 8:00 am in the morning. She is very proud of the fact that she can help at home.
