'Be the Change you wish to see in the world.'
31 Akanksha centres in Bombay along with 28 classes from 10 Schools have undertaken their first step in Being the Change through little and big acts. Stories keep pouring in and move us... the 11 year old who saved three ants… the 14 year old who wants to help a street boy start a sandwich stand… the 3 girls who want to beg for a few hours to understand how a child on the street feels…. a group of children who picked up plastic wherever they saw it for an entire month… stories of small acts that took so much courage…
We hope at the end of this project, to leave each child feeling empowered… empowered by the knowledge that they are came of making great change by making small changes within themselves…
The ‘Be the Change’ Walk…
On January 7th, 2007 , 500 Akanksha students, staff and volunteers will join together on a walk through the streets of Mumbai. This all day event will feature Jahesh Bhai and Tushar Gandhi who will speak to the group about the importance of service and community. Participants will then be sent out on a mission to follow their hearts and speak to anyone they come across. The goal of this colossal event is to inspire each individual to be the change they wish to see in the world.
