			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has agreed to open one-of-the-first English Medium Secondary School (8th grade onwards) in partnership with Akanksha Foundation and Teach for India. In the founding year, June 2013, the school (Ganj Peth area) will have around 80-120 students from Teach for India classrooms across the city and will eventually grow up to 10th grade.  </p>
<p>The school offers an opportunity not only to take Teach for India students to a logical completion of their schooling, but also offers an opportunity to innovate and experiment at secondary school stage (age group 13-16 years). This school will serve as a model to advocate for more such secondary schools in public private partnership (PPP) within Pune and even other cities, given the recent advent of the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) scheme, which calls for universal secondary education. </p>
<p>The assistant school leader is responsible for co-leading the implementation of school vision and strategic priorities along with the school leader. Along with this the ASL will be responsible for leading the instruction of at least one subject of his/her interest and thought partner with the School Leader for co-leading the Professional Development of the teacher team. The ASL will model the core values and ensure an effective communication and collaboration between various teams of the school. </p>
<p>Note: To teach in a secondary school, candidate is required to have a B.Ed degree. If candidate is not already certified, then Akanksha will help enroll in a B.Ed course during the school year.   </p>
<p><strong>Qualities and Qualifications</strong></p>

* At least two years of teaching experience, preferably in low-income communities and with adolescents<br />
* Prior experience in team-management</p>
<p><strong>Primary Responsibilities (70% of time)</strong><br />
* Responsible for designing and executing lessons to teach specific skill/content<br />
* Lead the development of a new curriculum/approach by enriching SSC content<br />
* Oversee planning and curriculum development for teacher teams<br />
* Observe classroom instruction and use observation to discuss training/PD plans<br />
* Co-create and maintain a strong culture that inculcates the school&#8217;s values and key messages in all students and teachers<br />
* Aid school leader in designing training sessions and PD plans<br />
* Co-lead training and PD sessions<br />
* Bring knowledge of best practices from external sources for driving improvements in the school&#8217;s system and processes</p>
<p><strong>Additional Responsibilities (30% of time)</strong><br />
* Manage operations and logistics of school, systems, and processes (HR, finance, administration, government, etc.)<br />
* Ensure proper documentation and timely collection of data/plans/resources from teachers<br />
* Assist school leader execute performance-based systems for all school staff<br />
* Design and execute parent engagement plan for year, including monthly meetings, relationship building, etc. for ensuring regular attendance and high student retention rates</p>
<p><strong>Salary</strong><br />
The starting salary will be 35,000/- per month. Negotiable based on candidate&#8217;s experience</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The India School Leadership Institute (ISLI) will create a pipeline of leaders equipped to open and lead excellent schools for children of low-income communities, and establish the gold standard benchmark for school leadership development in India.  ISLI will develop existing principal’s leadership skills, prepare future school leaders who aspire to lead schools of their own, as well as develop teachers who wish to take on additional leadership roles within a school. The founding partners of ISLI are the Central Square Foundation, Akanksha, and Teach for India, supported by the KIPP Foundation in the United States.</p>
<p>The Program Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the implementation and continuous improvement of the program. S/he will be responsible for oversight and management of all academic modules, individual schedules, delivery and effectiveness of the program and faculty, enforce policies and procedures. S/he will be responsible for the smooth functioning of the year-long Institute, as well as developing program offerings of ISLI in future years. S/he will need to develop strategic partnerships with individuals and organizations who can help strengthen and build ISLI’s menu of programs over time.  S/he will manage the budget, supervise the staff and direct the services that the program is designed to provide.<br />
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: </p>
<p>Program Development<br />
•	Support the Executive Director and ISLI advisory/leadership team to identify the menu of programs offered through ISLI for each year<br />
•	Work with the Executive Director to formulate and implement the program(s)<br />
•	Forge strategic partnerships with various stakeholders and identify relevant resources/opportunities based on program needs</p>
<p>Program Management/Execution<br />
•	Support members of the cohort in ensuring a positive developmental experience for each fellow.<br />
•	Act as a one point contact for resolving issues, concerns and advise fellows as and when required<br />
•	Oversee the delivery and effectiveness of faculty, mentors, coaches,  school placements and residency module<br />
•	Develop customized learning plans, residency schedules, school placements schedules for each fellow and monitor implementation as per objectives<br />
•	Develop and manage relationships with all key stakeholders involved in program: lead/visiting faculty, placement schools, residency sites, and coaches<br />
•	Manage performance evaluation of fellows and provide constructive feedback throughout the fellowship to address areas of improvement<br />
•	Lead, motivate and manage all members of the team connected to the program experience<br />
•	Oversee and ensure quality control of program operations</p>
<p>Program Administration<br />
•	Develop and implement guidelines and policies related to HR , Marketing and operations in alignment with the organization’s mission<br />
•	Preparation of budget, monitor expenses and compiles data for reports<br />
•	Recruit the right candidate for open positions<br />
•	Support in the implementation of fund raising strategy.</p>
<p>Program Evaluation<br />
•	Ensure program evaluation and longer term impact is captured through data collection and analysis<br />
•	Work with ED to analyze impact data and feed learning back into program decisions<br />
•	Help draft reports to donors, board and other key stakeholders on impact and progress</p>
<p>Qualifications:<br />
•	Bachelor&#8217;s or equivalent degree required, preferably a master&#8217;s degree<br />
•	Demonstrated track record as a highly effective teacher and/or school principal<br />
•	Possess budgeting, staffing, administrative experience<br />
•	Good understanding of organizational systems </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Akanksha&#8217;s Service Learning Program is accepting applications for its next batch!</p>
<p>The Service Learning Program is offered to students (15 to 20 years) with the idea of developing young leaders. The program is founded on the philosophy that each person can be a catalyst of social change. Since its inception in 2004, the program has served 8 batches.</p>
<p>We are inviting nominations for batch 9, which is tentatively scheduled to start in June, 2013.</p>
<p>SLP is open to Akanksha as well as non-Akanksha Students from other schools, colleges, NGOs, organizations, etc. If you are an organization/school/college working with youth in this age group or a parent, you may nominate students/your children/relatives who have an inclination towards such a program.</p>
<p>Program Details:<br />
Program base: The Akanksha Foundation, Voltas House, Chinchpokli, Mumbai<br />
Duration: 1.5 years (June, 2013 to Oct, 2014), 3 Sundays per month.<br />
Age group: 15-20 yrs.</p>
<p>Important dates:<br />
Confirmation of participation from applicants/candidates/organizations: 28th March, 2013<br />
Interview schedule: 6th April and 14th April, 2013 (Candidates will be informed about their interview date, after their nominations are received)<br />
Results announcement: 23rd April, 2013<br />
Introductory session and parents/guardians meeting: 9th June, 2013 (tentative)<br />
Graduation from the program: 2nd Oct, 2014</p>
