Creating Independent Thinkers
Our alumni support program not only empowers our children to be independent decision-makers but also instills in them a sense of contributing towards the community and society. We share with you the story of one such alumni who believes in the power of teaching and learning.
Meet Swaraj Malusare, our enterprising alumni from K.C. Thackrey Vidya Niketan school, Pune. Swaraj has been selected for the coveted Teach for India Fellowship Program this year.
After scoring a distinction in his grade 10 exam, Swaraj went on to pursue his graduation in biology from one of the top colleges of the country- Azim Premji University in Bengaluru.
Twenty-one-year-old Swaraj, says, “Having had the privilege of good schooling myself, I understand that a solid education lays the foundation of a child’s life.”
One of the main challenges that Swaraj faced in school was the English language. “I wasn't familiar nor comfortable using English. But my teachers at Akanksha built confidence in me and made me comfortable with it. I got interested and curious in learning more and more, not only in studies but also in extra-curricular activities,” he says. Apart from doing well academically, Swaraj loves theatre and drama.
Swaraj talks about the positive and valuable influence that his teachers have had on him, and says, “My teachers have always been an inspiration to me. I have wanted to be a teacher and make a difference to the children around me. So I opted to do the TFI fellowship.”
Talking about being a teacher and influencer to the kids in his classroom, Swaraj says, “I want my students to learn through experiences and examples from the world around them. I wish to create a rigorous atmosphere in my class which helps the students rationalize and think independently.”
