On October 2nd, Akanksha launched the second book by Shaheen and Saker Mistri, Miss Muglee Met Mr Get at Kitab Khana in Fort, Mumbai. The book teaches the value of giving and is set in the state of Gujarat, and the launch coincided with the Joy of Giving Week. At the launch, four Akanksha children did a dramatic reading of an excerpt. Afterwards, the illustrators of the book – three Akanksha alumni – were given certificates for their contribution. Finally, Nandita Das facilitated a panel of students that addressed what “giving” really means. The panel consisted of a student from The Ambani School, Bombay International School, and two Akanksha students. The students talked about ways we can give every day, and role models who give unconditionally. The evening was packed with important messages, bright colors, and excited children. Akanksha would like to thank all those involved, including Sangeeta Jindal who published the book, Kitan Khana for hosting the launch, and everyone who came to celebrate with us.
