Mumbai Marathon 2012

Run for Akanksha

Akanksha believes it is important to get involved with large-scale community events that are engaged in the practice of giving. In this vein, Akanksha is excited to be a participating NGO registered with United Way, the charity partner of the Mumbai Marathon.

The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, India’s premier long distance race, is not only a chance to push oneself physically, but serves as an excellent opportunity for giving back to the community. In fact, the Mumbai Marathon prides itself on being the largest charity-generating platform in the country. You can take part in the Corporate Challenge and support Akanksha by organizing a group of either 15 or 25 runners. For 15 runners, United Way asks for a donation of 2.5 Lakhs, and for 25 runners, United Way asks for a donation of 3.5 Lakhs. Included in this donation are the registration and bib fees for all of your runners.

In pledging this donation to Akanksha, you are directly contributing to our School Project. The School Project is an initiative that seeks to build a small cluster of high-performing municipal schools, and redefine what is possible for children from some of the poorest slum communities in Pune and Mumbai. Eventually we hope our model has the potential for wider, systemic reform. The Mumbai Marathon Corporate Challenge is the perfect opportunity for your company to partner with Akanksha and commit to our vision of providing a brighter future for children who need it the most.
