The Akanksha summer camps are opportunities for children to spend their summer learning through recreation. Summer camps have included workshops by clowns, drama, yoga and dance and lots of art and craft. Games and field trips are organized for the children. Volunteers are encouraged to take leadership roles in organizing and implementing the summer camp.

“I joined the summer camp with the intention of putting a smile on a child’s face, what I did not know was that in the process I was going to have so much fun” - Anita Didi

Summer Camp Volunteers say:

“FUN! That was the first thing that comes to my mind, when I think of the Summer Camp. However, when I sit back and think there was so much more to it. There was teaching, learning, communicating, socializing, and interacting, with children and with the volunteers. Everyone had something to give and all of us came back having learnt something new, be it a skill or perspective on life. I would do it again in the blink of an eye.” - Supriya Didi

“Being an Akanksha volunteer was my first interaction with any N.G.O. I realized that there is so much that I have been oblivious to. It really opened my eyes to the realities that I had been too busy to notice. Once at the summer camp I really enjoyed myself and the interaction with the children and the volunteers is really something that I will always cherish.” - Kaushik Bhaiya

“I realized that there is so much difference in our children who lead such comfortable lives but are still always wanting more and Akanksha children are so happy with what they have. I really enjoyed myself and hope the children benefited from my presence in any little way.” - Nishrin Didi

“Summer Camp was a very exhilarating experience. Seeing the kids having so much fun; be it them making piggy banks or dancing or playing football and tug-of-war; and volunteers enjoying themselves equally made those three weeks memorable and all the time spent in planning the event worthwhile.” - Ruchika Didi
