Immediate Relief
In immediate response to the devastating December 26th, 2004 tsunami, Akanksha set up a network of 40 collection centers across Mumbai. Over a month, material was collected, sorted and packed by Akanksha children and staff and more than 6 full truckloads of relief materials were sent to the affected areas. Akanksha partnered with another NGO, Goonj, in these efforts. In addition, donations were accepted to run medium and long term relief and rehabilitation work.
