Whether they live in Pune, Mumbai, or somewhere in between, all of Akanksha’s volunteers are important to the organization and serve a vital role in carrying out its mission of providing high quality education to all children. Akanksha would not be where it is today without its volunteers.
Volunteers also get the opportunity to learn new skills, meet new people, and contribute something to their community. They choose how much time they can afford, and how often they can contribute – be it teaching in centres, painting in art class, or mentoring adolescents.

Akanksha has been a turning point in my life. I have become more patient and empathetic towards people, especially children. I have learnt that giving qualitative inputs is more gratifying than giving financial help. Albeit it’s challenging but that’s what makes it more exciting. Each day I am learning something new, some positive value, and recognizing great potential. While I am trying to make a difference in children’s lives, the children and the experience are making a difference in my life.
